Confined Space & Hot Work Watch

1. Monitor confined space entry and hot work activities to ensure compliance with site safety procedures.
2. Verify that valid work permits are available before work begins.
3. Ensure gas testing is completed and gas levels remain within permissible limits, as required.
4. Check that proper PPE, fire extinguishers, ventilation, and safety equipment are available.
5. Maintain continuous communication with workers inside confined spaces and the entry supervisor.
6. Keep unauthorized personnel away from restricted work areas.
7. Monitor hot work activities for sparks, fire hazards, and combustible materials.
8. Raise the alarm and immediately stop work if unsafe conditions arise.
9. Ensure emergency and rescue equipment is available and accessible.
10. Maintain attendance records, safety logs, and watch activity reports.
11. Follow site HSE procedures and immediately report incidents or unsafe acts to the supervisor.

Education

•High school certificate or vocational certificate (minimum).

•Technical Diploma or safety-related education preferred.

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)

•OSHA 30

•NEBOSH HSW

•Hot Work / Fire Watch Training (mandatory).

•Basic Firefighting Training (preferred).

•Confined Space Entry Training (mandatory).

•Basic First Aid & CPR (preferred).

•Authorized Gas Tester certification (advantage).

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

•Knowledge of confined space hazards, atmospheric testing requirements, and emergency procedures.

•Understanding of hot work hazards, fire prevention, and firefighting equipment use.

•Ability to communicate clearly with entrants, supervisors, and emergency responders.

•Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and exercise Stop Work Authority.

•Strong situational awareness and hazard identification skills.

•Ability to maintain accurate logs and documentation.

Experience

•Minimum 1–3 years in industrial safety, shipyard operations, or similar environment.

•Previous experience as Confined Space Attendant or Fire Watch preferred.
