Announcement by the National Medical Care Company for the Position of Consultant Endocrinologist

Job Summary

The Consultant is responsible for providing care to patients (inpatient and outpatient) while maintaining a high level of professional performance in accordance with the following:

  • Evidence-based medicine.
  • Professional medical ethics and CBAHI / JCIA standards.
  • The hospital's internal medical regulations.
  • The laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and applicable regulations in accordance with the department's quality plan.

Providing effective leadership for the department while maintaining an appropriate quality plan using measurable performance indicators in the field of endocrinology.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care with empathy and understanding.
  • Care within the scope of clinical privileges for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Adherence to approved clinical standards, guidelines, and benchmarks.
  • Regular individual or group rounds to establish a multidisciplinary treatment plan.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of the specialty.
  • Evaluate and refer patients to other medical facilities and accept patient referrals within the specialty's scope.
  • Participation in the department's on-call schedule.
  • Respond to emergencies and contribute to problem-solving within the specialty.
  • Maintain patients' rights to safety, confidentiality, and privacy.
  • Accurate, timely, and clear documentation of medical records.

Leadership and Educational Role

  • Supervise junior staff, senior registrars, registrars, residents, nurses, and other allied healthcare professionals.
  • Provide leadership for performance improvement functions in clinical and non-clinical operations.
  • Participate in continuous medical education within the hospital.
  • Participate in national and international conferences and seminars.
  • Participate in training programs and continuously enhance professional competence.
  • Participate in meetings of relevant committees (quality improvement, infection control, etc.).
  • Adherence to department policies and procedures and hospital regulations.
  • Perform any other duties assigned within the limits of professional knowledge and skills.

Patient and Family Education

  • Educate patients and their families according to their health needs.
  • Involve patients and their families in the care plan and respect their choices.
  • Provide health awareness using methods appropriate to the level of development, culture, language, and learning ability.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate health education and document it in medical records.

Administrative Reporting and Communication

Reports administratively to: Head of the Department of Internal Medicine

Supervises: Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other allied healthcare professionals

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

  • American Board, Canadian Fellowship, Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, or equivalent (required).
  • Higher qualifications in the specialty if available (preferred).

Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the qualification.
  • A valid license to practice medicine in the specialty field.
  • Registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and/or a current license to practice medicine in the Kingdom.
  • Additional experience in a subspecialty and academic affiliation (preferred).

Skills and Competencies

  • Leadership and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in spoken Arabic is preferred.
  • Professionalism and excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with medical regulations.
