Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for recording, reviewing, and maintaining accurate financial transactions, preparing financial reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting cost control, inventory accounting, payroll, tax compliance, and financial closing activities.
The role supports a medium-sized catering and food services company by ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with company policies and local regulations, and providing timely financial information to support business decisions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Record daily accounting transactions including sales, purchases, expenses, payroll, advances, and accruals.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper filing of all supporting documents.
- Prepare bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, customer statements, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable, review supplier invoices, and coordinate payments according to approved terms.
- Manage accounts receivable, issue customer invoices, follow up collections, and prepare aging reports.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, cash flow reports, and cost analysis reports.
- Monitor operational costs related to food materials, labor, transportation, sites, and catering projects.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Follow up inventory accounting, stock movements, and participate in periodic and annual stock counts.
- Review petty cash, employee advances, and expense claims in line with company policies.
- Assist in VAT, Zakat, tax filing, and compliance with applicable local regulations.
- Support payroll review, payroll accounting entries, and employee financial settlements.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, company policies, and audit requirements.
- Provide required documents and support for internal and external audits.
- Coordinate with operations, procurement, stores, HR, suppliers, and customers to resolve financial matters.
- Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the line manager.
